Bethenny Frankel: ‘C-section Was Less Painful Than Being Away with Kelly’

Given the fact that this season’s ‘Real Housewives of NYC‘ was like watching an all-out estrogen sequel to Fight Club, we’re sure Bethenny Frankel is thanking her lucky stars she had an exit strategy–enter tonight’s spin-off, ‘Bethenny’s Getting Married?‘ (Bravo, 10/9c). But don’t think that her new show is going to entertain you by way of the blowouts, gossiping, and Page Six headlines you’re accustomed to seeing on ‘Housewives.’ Actually, B says it’s just the opposite–it’s refreshing and “doesn’t give you a headache.”

Besides, as if the “Skinny Girl” writer has time for girlfriend drama, considering she recently got preggars, engaged, married, and is now the proud new mom to baby girl, Bryn–yeah, in that order. According to her, that basically sums up her new venture. “I go through being 39, getting engaged, getting pregnant, doing everything backwards. Like nothing I do is sort of right side up it seems. And then [there's] balancing my career,” she says. “The devil’s in the details.”

Details is right. In the season opener, you’ll find a baby bumped-out Bethenny working out the kinks and laughing at the quirks of her new life with then hubby-to-be Jason Hoppy as they hunt for rings and plan a housewarming party (that she really prefers not having) at their new Tribeca pad. Expect some emotional moments as she attends therapy to deal with her past and prepare for her future, as well as some comic relief when she searches for the perfect intern to assist her in her successful book enterprise: You’ll be surprised at who she ends up hiring and Jason’s reaction to her decision!

So what’s with Beth’s future with the ‘Housewives’? Well, that remains to be seen. If the producers need her for her “running commentary,” she says she’s fine with offering her silver tongue, but aside from that, she doesn’t know how much of a role she’ll be playing in future seasons. What the new mama does know is that she’s done with bad energy and drama, which at the moment, means Jill Zarin is out of the picture. And don’t even get her started with Kelly Bensimon. “Kelly’s got this whole, you know, nonsense bullying angle she’s working right now which is like idiotic,” she states. “She’s a 41-year-old woman. So anything she says you can’t really even listen to because she’s out of her mind and certifiable…the C-section was less painful than being away [in St. John's] with Kelly.”

Whether the drama with Jill and Kelly is ‘to be continued,’ Bethenny doesn’t seem to be all that interested in looking back. She’s riding high on her professional and personal successes and knows where her priorities lie. “I honestly did not think that I would have this amazing life. I really thought you couldn’t have all of these things because you had to sacrifice one. And who knows, maybe I’ll have to sacrifice my career at some point. I’m not sacrificing my husband or my kid. I know that.”

The season premiere of ‘Bethenny’s Getting Married?’ airs tonight on Bravo at 10/9c following the ‘Real Housewives of NYC’ reunion special.
