When I heard that Julia Roberts was going to play Elizabeth Gilbert in the cinematic interpretation of Gilbert’s best-selling memoir, Eat, Pray, Love, it was a bit of a head scratcher. Julia?! Look, I love Julia for being Julia, but I had hoped that the producers would’ve fought for a smart 30-something actress (e.g. Reese Witherspoon) to play Gilbert’s role, which would’ve stayed truer to the author’s age at the time she went on this journey.
(Sigh). But make no mistake: Unless the ratings are atrocious, you better believe I’m watching this chick flick–especially when you’ve got major eye-candy incentives like James Franco and Javier Bardem.
